from the series ‘Transcience’
This image is part of a series (2009 – ongoing) for which van Ark photographed flowers
placed on graves at cemeteries in the Netherlands. This photographic series follows the tradition
of Dutch flower still live paintings in which flowers have been visually frozen for centuries.
The works in this series represents the contrast between the temporary and eternal and beauty and decay.
This image has been exhibited in van Ark’s solo exhibition ‘FOAM in Museum van Loon’ in 2013 and in
Nest in Den Haag in 2014.
Danielle van Ark’s work has been exhibited at i.e. FOAM, Museum of the City of New York, Museum Kranenburgh,
Museum de Fundatie, tegenboschvanvreden, de Oude Kerk and is represented in the collections of various museums,
corporate and private collections.
